Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho: MEXT) Scholarships
The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT or Monbukagakusho) of the Government of Japan offers scholarships to foreign students who wish to study at Japanese universities.
As of the 2016 Japanese academic year, 9,481 students have studied in Japan under the Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho) Scholarship program established in 1954. As of May 1, 2017, there were 11,276 foreign students studying in Japan as Japanese government scholarship students.
Since 1994, the Government of Japan awarded Research (Graduate) Student Scholarships to 42 Jamaicans, 3 Belizeans and 3 Bahamians to pursue Masters and Doctorial studies in Japan.
