Thank you for your interest in the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) scholarship.
The application period for Jamaica and the Commonwealth of The Bahamas is now CLOSED, and the Embassy of Japan in Jamaica is no longer accepting the application for the MEXT Scholarship.
What follows below is therefore for your reference only.

This scholarship is open to university graduates from Jamaica and the Bahamas, and covers a one year and half – two year period of graduate research at Japanese universities. The study area must be in the same field as the applicant studied or is now studying, or a related field. Recipients may enter Master's or Ph.D. program after passing the entrance examination given by the university concerned. The scholarship includes a half-year of Japanese language training for those who need Japanese language training. Applicants must be less than 35 years of age (born on or after April 2, 1992)

※ Please note that if you are from Jamaica or the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, the only MEXT Scholarship available through this process is for Research (Graduate) Studies.
