On July 23rd, Ambassador Maruyama hosted a Send-Off Reception for thirteen new JET participants (one is already working in Japan).
Ambassador Maruyama gave a congratulatory message to the departing JETs, encouraging them to share the heart of Jamaica with people of Japan and to absorb the rich tradition and modern innovation of Japan.
Ambassador Sheila Sealy Monteith, CD, JP, Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, congratulating the departing JET participants in her remarks, noting the strong bilateral cooperation in a wide range of areas and highlighting the role of people-to-people exchanges, including through JET Programme.
To date, more than 470 Jamaicans have participated in the JET Programme, contributing to the further deepening of the bilateral relations at a grass roots level.
