End-of-Assignment briefing by JICA Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteer (7 July 2026)

On 7 July, Ambassador Maruyama received an end-of-assignment briefing from JICA Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers, Ms. Moeko Mabuchi and Ms. Saaya Kobayashi. Ms. Mabuchi served at the Women’s Centre of Jamaica Foundation in Santa Cruz, where she supported young women, whose teenage pregnancy limited their educational opportunities, build their skills for independence and reintegration into society. Ms. Kobayashi worked with the Municipal Corporations of St. Elizabeth and Portland. In Portland, she contributed to disaster risk reduction initiatives, including the implementation of evacuation drills and the installation of tsunami evacuation signs. Ambassador expressed his appreciation for their dedicated service and wished them every success in their future endeavors after returning to Japan.
