(Japanese)
On April 28, Ambassador Maruyama visited Boundbrook Primary School, where he was warmly welcomed by students and teachers. The visit was also attended by Mr. Vassell, Deputy Mayor of Port Antonio. During the visit, the Ambassador observed an earthquake evacuation drill supported by JICA volunteer Ms. Kobayashi.
He was impressed by how quickly the children took cover under their desks at the sound of the alarm and then evacuated to the designated assembly area. Prior to the drill, the school principal, Ms. Palmer, showed the Ambassador a classroom building donated through Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) in 2014.
