2026/4/27
On 24 April, Ambassador Maruyama received an end-of-assignment briefing from JICA Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers, Mr. Toshiki Nakashima and Ms. Naomi Kinoshita. Mr. Nakashima was assigned to the 4H Club in Portland, where he provided guidance on agricultural techniques at schools. Ms. Kinoshita worked at the Edgehill School of Special Education in St. Ann, where she taught handicrafts (weaving). Both volunteers noted that children’s sense of achievement contributes to enhancing their learning and motivation, and expressed their hope that these initiatives will continue after their departure. The Ambassador conveyed his appreciation for their dedication and contributions. We wish them all the best in their future endeavours after returning to Japan.
