Japan-Supported Initiative to Boost Jamaica’s Agro-Industrial MSMEs Launched (16 April 2026)

 On April 16, Ambassador Maruyama attended the launch of a call for applications to support Jamaica’s micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), with a focus on the agro-industrial sector. Funded by the Government of Japan through United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), the initiative aims to promote industrial development and technology transfer across Caribbean Community Member States. Through this initiative, Japan reaffirms its strong commitment to continuing its partnership with Jamaica in support of sustainable industrial development and economic resilience.

 The event was attended by Senator the Honourable Aubyn Hill (Minister of Industry, Investment and Commerce), Mr. David Davis (Acting CEO, Jamaica Business Development Corporation), and Mr. Marin Mizuno (UNIDO Project Manager), among others, and concluded with a tour of an agro-processing incubator.
