Message from Ambassador (December 2025)
2025/12/4
(Japanese)

I would like to extend my greetings to you as I arrive in Kingston as the Ambassador of Japan to Jamaica. It is with a sense of privilege that I take on this role to a key country in the Caribbean.
As Jamaica continues to recover from the damages caused by the recent hurricane, the Government of Jamaica is continuing its efforts to rebuild the country and the international community, including Japan, is providing assistance, with international organizations undertaking initiatives. I would like to express my condolences to the victims and my heartfelt sympathy to all who have been affected.
Despite geographical distance between Japan and Jamaica, I am greatly encouraged by the strong interest, trust, and expectations directed toward Japan, as well as the various exchanges taking place between our two countries. It is also a great pleasure to take on the role of Ambassador at a time when interest in Jamaica is growing further in Japan, due in part to the achievements of Jamaican athletes at the World Athletics Championships held in Tokyo.
Building on the recent 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Jamaica, it is my intention to do my utmost to ensure that the J-J Partnership can further flourish and pioneer a new era of greater significance in the midst of rapidly changing international circumstances. As I continue to learn and work diligently through encounters with many of you, I would very much appreciate your continued support and cooperation.
Maruyama Kohei
