Hand over of Emergency Assistance to Jamaica in Response to Hurricane Melissa (5 November 2025)

   On November 5, emergency relief goods by Japan through JICA in response to Hurricane Melissa were handed over in the presence of Ambassador Atsumi. The supplies will be distributed to the affected areas through the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM).  On the Jamaican side, Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Desmond McKenzie, and Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Sheila Sealy Monteith, were present and expressed their appreciation for Japan’s support.
