On 12 September 2023, Ambassador Atsumi paid a courtesy call on the Hon. Floyd Green, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Mining. They exchanged ideas on how to further strengthen the relationship between Japan and Jamaica along with matters related to agriculture and fisheries.
The year of 2024 marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Jamaica and the Japan-CARICOM Friendship Year. It is expected that various events will be carried out in Japan and Jamaica.
