On 7 March 2023, Ambassasdor Atsumi made a courtesy call on the Hon. Desmond Mckenzie, CD, MP, Minister of Local Government and Rural Development. They exchanged views for the further development of Japan-Jamaica relations in the future, including the implementation of Grant Aid Project for the Improvement of Emergency Communication System and Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots Human Security Projects in Jamaica.
