Ambassador Fujiwara visited the Sunken City in Port Royal

On 12 May, Ambassador Fujiwara visited the Sunken City in Port Royal guided by representatives of the Jamaica National Heritage Trust.  The city, the largest British city in the western hemisphere in the 17th century, sank under the sea because of a strong earthquake occurred in 1692.  The sunken city is under survey by the National Heritage Trust with the participation of archeologists around the world, including Dr. Kotaro Yamafune, Japanese underwater archeologist.
