Reception to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and the Commonwealth of The Bahamas (22 October 2025)

   On October 22, 2025, Ambassador Atsumi held a reception in Nassau with Hon. Frederick A. Mtichell, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Commonwelath of the Bahamas to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and The Bahamas.
   In addition to Foreign Minister Mitchell, the reception was attended by Mrs. Ann Marie Davis, Spouse of the Prime Minister, H.E. Cedric Scott, Ambassador of The Bahamas to Japan, Honorary Consul General Sands, and many members of the diplomatic corps.
   Ambassador Atsumi noted that Japan and The Bahamas have fostered bonds of friendship based on shared principles such as freedom, democracy, the rule of law, and human rights, and expressed his hope for further deepening of bilateral relations in the years to come
   Foreign Minister Mitchell also referred to the “kizuna” between the two countries and expressed his hope that bilateral relations and cooperation would continue to deepen in various fields and that the two countries would continue to work together to build a more peaceful world.
   Afterwards, the attendees enjoyed a karate demonstration and a calligraphy corner.
