“Japan Weekend” on the January 26 and 27

On January 26-27, the Embassy of Japan hosted a cultural event “Japan Weekend” in the Commonwealth of The Bahamas,Nassau, to celebrate the 30th anniversary since the first Japan-CARICOM Consultation(Japan-CARICOM Friendship Year 2024).
On the 26th, Embassy staff gave a presentation on Japanese anime at St. Gregory's Anglican Church Hall, followed by an anime screening (Yu-Gi-Oh! The Darkside of Dimensions) with 106 guests in attendance.
On the 27th, the Embassy of Japan, Bassai Bahamas, and the Japanese Visual Arts Society held exhibitions and presentations at the Mall at Marathon. The Embassy offered calligraphy, origami and a YUKATA (Japanese traditional clothes) experience, while Bassai Bahamas gave a karate demonstration, and the Japanese Visual Arts Society explained the appeal of cosplay and other activities. About 300 people attended these events.
 
On the same day, Sushi chef explained the history of sushi, how to cook rice and how to make sushi. They also demonstrated how to process fish and make sushi rolls at Japanese restaurant Sushi Rokkan. Approximately 80 people attended this event, including His Excellency Ron Pinder, Ambassador at Large, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and they acquired knowledge of Japanese cuisine.
